About the Build

10696 North College was built for the Fisher's family in 1916.  This Craftsman beauty was purchased on 9/15/23 and preparations began that same day for the 22 tons of Himalayan salt, imported from Pakistan, which was used to create our two Salt Caves.

Major renovation was required to support the weight of the salt. In the basement we added 20 pier supports that go down about 20 feet to bedrock. Then, the entire basement was waterproofed. We double and triple sistered ALL the floor joists on two floors. There are 37 new LVLs (some are 18" and triple sistered!) and over 400 sticks of 2x4' and 2x6's! All new insulation and drywall was added as well. (In other words - we built a whole new house inside the house!) The main staircase has also been completely rebuilt.

For mechanicals - we installed three HVAC systems, all new plumbing & electric. We did these extra steps to ensure the Cave's microclimate is maintained at a constant 72 degrees - which is the perfect temperature for halotherapy.

Additionally, all the interior trim, doors, and most of the windows have been replaced. There are new hardwoods throughout and amazing tiled rooms as well. We added an ADA compliant bathroom and installed a wheelchair lift.

The exterior was updated with a new brick staircase and period correct Arts & Crafts light fixtures. There are new trees and bushes, and some new siding - even a new roof!  Most people have already noticed the building is now a fun shade of yellow and white - which is why we've named the house "Daisy."

We've made every attempt to keep Daisy's original features while updating her to today's standards. We hope you come by and visit Daisy and the Carmel Salt Caves soon!
